Crystal Lagoons Project in Thailand Defined as “Like No Other”

“Unique, like no other.” This is how the popular website Sanook defined Blue Tree Phuket, the latest water amenity to be inaugurated in Thailand, which functions as a Public Access Lagoon (PAL). It includes a 4.2-acre lagoon which functions with Crystal Lagoons® technology.

The project, which received a US$ 40 million in investments, is the main family attraction on the iconic tourist island of Phuket, which has boosted local tourism.

“This is a beautiful water park. The 17.000 square meters of pure, turquoise waters contrast with the floating white clouds in the sky. You can just sit and relax, enjoy the atmosphere, and fill your holidays with joy.”

The man-made lagoon created by Crystal Lagoons is surrounded by white sand beaches and offers a variety of water activities and games for children and adults alike, such as the slip n fly, waterslides, cliff jumping & rock climbing, and splash zones.

The resort-style complex is set to receive 1.5 million visitors in its first year, mainly from China, Russida, Australia, Germany, South Korea and France.

Cristián Lehuedé, Director Executive at Crystal Lagoons, explains that “having revolutionized the real-estate sector for 10 years, the company has expanded into the new PAL phase, revolutionizing cities with projects that require low investment and maintenance costs, short term return on investments and that can be intensively used. In fact, today PALs represent 80% of the firm’s contracts due to their appeal. They can revitalize unused land, failing shopping centers, boost foot traffic to water parks and types of parks, take advantage of underused spaces found at race course tracks and golf courses, zoos, etc so as to develop urban hubs that can be converted into the meeting spot of the XXI century.”

According to Michael Ayling, Director at Blue Tree Phuket, “the tourism market in Phuket has changed over the course of the last 10 years. Today we are seeing a high demand for attractions located far from the coast that are of interest of local Thai families.”

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
