FERNANDO FISCHMANN is an influential scientist, innovator and businessman. His multinational water innovation company, Crystal Lagoons, has managed, in less than 15 years of operations, to accumulate over 1,000 projects in different stages of operation, planning, design, and construction in 60 countries worldwide. 800 of these are Public Access Lagoons® projects, also known as PAL® developments.
Fernando has been honored many times with prestigious international awards, such as the “WIPO Medal for Inventors” from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and the “Champion of Champions” at the Green World Awards, British awards that recognize sustainable initiatives.
He has also been recognized as “Entrepreneur of the Year”, “Innovator of the Year”, and “Businessman of the Year”. He received The Stevie® Award, popularly known as The Oscars of the business world, previously awarded to Steve Jobs and Jeff Bezos. Fernando has also been honored with the Green Apple Award at Britain’s House of Commons three times (2016, 2017 & 2021), and was awarded the Real Innovator Award, by the London Business School, to mention a few.
Fernando’s crystalline lagoons are limitless in size and are taking the beach lifestyle to some of the most diverse regions of the world, thanks to his patents relating to water-treatment technologies that represent very low water, chemical and energy consumption. In total, he holds 2,900 patents in 180 countries. As a consequence, the intellectual property of Crystal Lagoons has been valued at US $4.1 billion.
