The new Regional Director was appointed to oversee the company’s 40 projects that Crystal Lagoons currently is developing in the Middle East, for a total investment in excess of US$ 13 billion. The executive will use Cityscape Global to identify new opportunities to bring the patented mega-lagoon technology to key Gulf destinations.

Crystal Lagoons Corp., the developer of the patented technology for giant crystalline lagoons, will return to Dubai for the annual Cityscape Global showcase that will be held at the Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre (DICEC) during September 8-10, with news on its growing portfolio of GCC projects and its expanding regional team.

Carlos Salas takes the helm as Regional Director Middle East, with the goal of overseeing the company’s strategic growth, inheriting an impressive existing portfolio with a total of 40 active, under-development and pipeline projects spread across the Middle East, valued at over US$13 billion.

Based in Dubai, Salas brings with him extensive regional experience, having spent the last six years as head of the Economic Department of the Chilean Embassy at the UAE and ProChile Trade Representative for the GCC countries.

The executive has a degree in Civil Industrial Engineering and an MB from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He also has an ample professional experience in the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC) formed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman and Qatar.

He will be responsible for strengthening Crystal Lagoons’ expansion in the Middle East, a region where the company already has many projects such as Citystars Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt; two developments in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; another one in Jordan and the “Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City – District One” complex in Dubai itself, that will feature the world’s largest crystal clear lagoon (40 hectares).

Today, the multinational has more than 40 projects in different stages of development in countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and it recently announced two new initiatives in Egypt that will join two other ones that the company already has in that country.

“Swanlake North Coast” and “Golf Porto Marina” will be located in Egypt’s northern coast, in the Mediterranean Sea, close to Alexandria. They target the second housing market and their main differentiating elements will be the crystal clear lagoons with white sand beaches.

The Swanlake North Coast project is being developed by Crystal Lagoons in partnership with Hassan Allam Properties, one of Egypt’s main real estate firms, specialized in high end residential projects. Focused on the luxury segment, the complex will feature three lagoons developed with Crystal Lagoons’ technology that will add up more than 6.1 hectares of crystal clear lagoons.

With an estimated investment in excess of US$200 million, the complex will feature 675 luxurious residential units, a boutique hotel, facilities for the practice of a wide variety of sports and gastronomic areas, among other characteristics.

In partnership with Egyptian Amer Group, with extensive experience in the development of real estate projects, hotels and shopping malls, Crystal Lagoons is developing Golf Porto Marina, with an estimated investment of US$345 million. The complex will feature a 2.4-hectare crystal clear lagoon as its main attraction.

The complex will boast two thousand residential units and will also feature the only 18-hole golf course in Egypt’s northern coast, designed by American architect Raymond Hearn, one of the world’s most important golf course designers.

Crystal Lagoons currently has a large folder of 300 urban, tourist, public and industrial projects around the world, in different development stages. Today the company is in partnership agreements with the main real estate companies of the world, has a presence in the five continents, in 60 countries, such as The United States, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Jordan, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Chile, among others.
