The San Alfonso de Mar crystal clear lagoon was developed using Crystal Lagoons’ concept and technology, an innovation that has revolutionized real estate markets worldwide. In fact, San Alfonso del Mar was the company’s first and most iconic project that made possible the successful exportation model of the company that nowadays is currently involved in more than 300 developments in 60 countries all over the world.
It is worth mentioning that the 8-hectare lagoon at San Alfonso is a perfect spot for the practice of any kind of water sports, such as kayaking, windsurf, and even sailing, and it is surrounded by a wide white sand beach, offering a wide variety of recreational alternatives in a very safe environment.
The publication also underlines Crystal Lagoons’ sustainability, emphasizing that these gigantic crystalline lagoons just need water to compensate natural evaporation, generating half of the water consumption required by a park and up to ten times less than what a golf course needs. In addition, the lagoons uses up to 100 times less chemicals than traditional swimming pools and drinkable water disinfection systems, and just 2% of the energy required by the traditional filtration systems.
Since the lagoon at San Alfonso de Mar was certified as the world’s greatest manmade body of water in 2007, it has become a world class attraction that keeps raising the interest of myriad media worldwide. In fact, just six months after the lagoon was certified by the World Record Guinness, there were more than 2.000 TV channels, newspapers and magazines visiting the lagoon, such as Wired, Discovery Channel, The Guardian, The Times, TV Channel Fuji Network Co, Corriere Della Sera, Stern Magazine, CNN, BBC, Süeddeutsche Zeitung, among many others.
