International media highlight what will be the world’s largest crystal clear lagoon

“Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City – District One” is the name of project that Crystal Lagoons is developing in Dubai. The project considers what will be the world’s largest crystal clear lagoon, with 40 hectares in the middle of the desert, and whose 1.4-hectare first stage is already in operation. With this lagoon the innovation multinational company will break its third Guinness World Record (Firstly, San Alfonso del Mar and; secondly, the lagoon at Sharm El Sheik in Egypt).

Given its majestic characteristics, the project has been covered for myriad media around the world. The complex is being developed by a joint venture between Meydan Group – Dubai Government the real estate branch, closely linked to the monarchy – and Sobha, India’s most important real estate firm.

The project is located at Dubai’s heart and represents a US$ 7000 million investment. The development will have the lagoon and its beaches as its main attraction and around them corporative towers, industrial parks, sports areas and a public park bigger than London’s Hyde Park, water parks, the “Mall of the World” –the world’s largest shopping mall-, more than 100 hotels and 1500 new super luxurious residential condos whose units range between 7 and 12 million dollars will be built.

Alongside the project there is the world’s largest hippodrome (60.000 spectators), zoos and research centres, libraries, banks, universities, international schools, Golf courses and the great mosque of Rey Al Maktoum. With 400 hectare of extension, the complex will have 65% of green areas and the world’s lowest density in this category.
