Fernando Fischmann wins Stevie Award, considered the “Oscar for Business”

Considered to be one of the world’s most coveted awards, and described by the New York Post as the “Oscars of the business world”, Fernando Fischmann, founder and President of Crystal Lagoons, won the Innovator of the Year award of the International Business Awards. Furthermore, the water desalination technology that uses no energy, developed by Crystal Lagoons, won the Innovation of the Year award, and, as a result Fischmann will receive both Stevie® Award trophies this October.

The same prize has been awarded in recent years to the most important and recognized CEOs of the world like Steve Jobs from Apple, Jeff Bezos from Amazon, Kent Muhtar from Coca-Cola, Alan Mulally from the Ford Motor Company and other outstanding companies like IBM, Disney, AT&T and Coca-Cola.

This year’s version received over 3,800 nominations from 60 countries, and Fischmann was chosen as the person or company to have contributed most to innovation, with the company Cisco Systems taking second place. He also won the award for the main technological innovation, for his water desalination technology that uses no energy, that seeks to solve some of humanity’s greatest problems, such as energy and water scarcity.

The jury for the International Business Awards is composed of over 200 opinion leaders, executives and academics from around the world, including representatives from Nike, DHL, HSBC, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, American Express and others.

The judges made tremendously positive comments about the scientist, such as “Fernando Fischmann is the embodiment of an innovator! What is even more remarkable is that his innovation has a positive impact on the environment”.

Another member of the committee praised the innovator, affirming that “Fischmann sees a challenge, sees an opportunity and looks for a solution or creates new technology to accomplish his goal. An innovator!” Additionally, another judge expressed that, “it is a wonderful innovation and initiative to provide solutions to humanity’s critical need for survival. A well anticipated innovation and a noble contribution to the wellbeing of the world”.

The International Business Awards gala ceremony will take place on 21st October in the Rome Cavalieri, Waldorf Astoria Hotel, Rome, Italy. On the occasion, Fischmann will receive two Stevie® Award trophies, golden statues that recognize the winners of these international awards that were created by R.S. Owens, the same manufacturers as Hollywood’s Oscars.

The track record of the founder of Crystal Lagoons and the success story of this innovation multinational, that in less than 7 years has 15 offices around the world and a packed portfolio that totals 400 projects in different stages of development in 60 countries –that have transformed it into the World’s Top Amenity- have meant that the scientist has received more than 20 additional awards. Amongst the awards one can highlight the USA’s Best New Business award, Keys to Miami from the Beacon Council, Innovation Award from Florida’s Governor, two Guinness World Records, as well as being the only executive to have received awards for Best Entrepreneur, Best Innovator and Best Businessman.
