5 August, 2022 / News

The disruptive technology of Crystal Lagoons® is now present practically all over the world with more than 1,000 projects across five continents at different stages of development. Some 800 of these projects fall under the Public Access Lagoons™ model, also known as PAL™ developments.

These innovative projects add value to urban, real estate and tourism projects, and this year Crystal Lagoons set a record for lagoon filling on all the continents in with operates, almost doubling 2021 operations.

Is an upward trend driven by the pandemic, the search for safe places for rest and recreation and also the heat wave has triggered the interest in large swimmable and navigable bodies of water.

In Spain, the largest crystalline lagoon in Europe, Santa Rosalia, is being filled. Although the United States is our main market worldwide, Latin America is also experiencing a record uptake and we continue to see consolidation in the Middle East with Egypt leading the way, a true phenomenon.

This country is experiencing an upturn in the second home market both on the North Coast (Mediterranean) and on the East Coast (Red Sea) and has a large number of lagoons in the process of being filled. There are more than 40 projects at different stages, including the largest crystalline lagoon in the world (12.5 hectares) in the Citystars Sharm El Sheikh complex, in the middle of the desert.

In Latin America, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina stand out with projects such as The Beach, Nya, Baia Kristal, AquaTerra, Costa del Lago, Acquavista and Remeros Beach, all of which are about to open.
