Crystal Lagoons Revolutionizes the Shopping Mall Industry in Colombia with New PAL® Project

5 July, 2024 / News

The new Crystal Lagoons PAL® project in Colombia, Kristal Malls, is revolutionizing the retail industry in this country. It addresses the challenge of reinventing shopping malls and incorporating new experiences and entertainment.

In association with AED and Arquitectura & Concreto, it is located in Azul de Arenas, Cartagena de Indias, and will be Colombia’s next commercial landmark. It will be distinguished by its monumental 7,4-acre crystalline lagoon featuring Crystal Lagoons® technology, which will boost footfall. This amenity will bring the idyllic beach lifestyle to the Colombian Caribbean’s largest shopping and entertainment center.

This artificial lagoon, suitable for swimming and water sports, will be surrounded by white sandy beaches, creating an oasis of turquoise waters in the country’s first Shopping Resort. Visitors will enjoy water activities such as swimming, paddle surfing, kayaking, and windsurfing, among others, accessible through ticketed entry.

Covering 296 acres with a leasable area of 110,000 m², Kristal Malls will feature a wide range of stores, including high-end national and international brands, a cinema, an amusement park for all ages, an events center, a 150-room hotel, offices, apartments, health centers, and a diverse selection of restaurants, among other spaces.

Kristal Malls is part of one of the most significant agreements signed by Crystal Lagoons in Latin America, in association with AED, one of the leading real estate firms in the country. The mega-contract includes 13 projects with crystalline lagoons that will enhance another tourist icon, such as the “Eje Cafetero,” in addition to the Colombian Caribbean.

“The fact that one of Colombia’s leading developers, such as AED, partners with Crystal Lagoons to build numerous projects, including the largest shopping center in the Colombian Caribbean, shows how our concept and technology are a success in Colombia,” adds Matte.
