8 July, 2019 / NewsThe Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum – City District One project, in Dubai, is set to become a destination for retail and leisure, once Meydan Mall opens in 2021. The development is expected to become amongst the lowest-density residential projects in the world and includes a monumental Crystal Lagoons® amenity.
The first district, called District One, developed by MeydanSobha, is a fifty-fifty joint venture between two groups, Sobha and Meydan. It is a concept of The Highness, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum, vice president and prime minister of UAE. He is also ruler of Dubai.
Easily accessible from the Emirates Towers, Dubai International Financial Center and the Dubai Airport, the it also houses a nine-hole golf course, an IMAX theater, a tennis academy and the Meydan Hotel.
The project also includes seven kilometers of man-made turquoise waters, over 14 kilometers of boardwalk. The projects’ 90 acres of crystalline waters powered by Crystal lagoons technology will be surrounded by a
boardwalk, and can be accessed from any part of the District One.
It will also offer a host of sports facilities, racetracks, schools, mosques, shopping centers as well as an ample selection of gastronomic facilities from bistros, water front cafes, to retail and theatres. The section of the lagoon in front of the Meydan One Mall will function as a Public Access Lagoons, thus allowing the general public to access via ticketed entry.
Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
