Crystal Lagoons Expands in Colombia with 15 New Projects

3 June, 2024 / News

Colombia has been a fast-growing market for Crystal Lagoons due to its climate and population, among other factors. Our projects are changing the lives of millions of Colombians by bringing a fraction of the ocean steps away from their homes. This was demonstrated by the commercial dynamism of Baia Kristal and Kristal Blue, which confirms that lagoons are successful even in tourist icons and coastal cities such as Cartagena de Indias,” explains Francisco Matte, regional director of Crystal Lagoons for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Precisely in this country, Crystal Lagoons recently announced one of its most significant operations in Latin America, with the closing of 15 new Public Access Lagoons®, also known as PAL®, and real estate projects covering one of the main cities located in the Andean area of this country, such as Medellin. These projects also cover major tourist areas, such as the Coffee Region and the Caribbean, where the iconic Cartagena de Indias is located.

The projects partner with two significant Colombian real estate and construction groups, AED Constructores and Grupo Proyecta. All of them will feature a turquoise water lagoon surrounded by white sandy beaches as a centerpiece. Residential units will be incorporated around it, and in the case of the public access model, hotels, gastronomic centers, retail, and a beach club, among other infrastructure, will complement the lagoon, epitomizing the quintessential PAL™ experience.

The diverse geography of this nation and the temperate Caribbean climate of its inland and coastal geographic zones attracted these developments, whose crystalline lagoons, suitable for swimming and water sports, will bring idyllic beach life that can be enjoyed year-round.

The developments in the Colombian Caribbean, specifically in Cartagena de Indias, have already achieved surprising commercial success through the Baia Kristal and Kristal Blue projects. With the same partners, AED Constructores, Crystal Lagoons signed a new agreement for the Andean Region, covering the departments of Tolima, Cundinamarca, Valle del Cauca, and Meta, including the arrival of PAL™ to the outskirts of Bogotá. The third master agreement is in Antioquia, where Medellín and Urabá, an Andean area far from the coast, are located.

Crystal Lagoons is that it has entered the Latin American retail market in Cartagena de Indias with Kristal Malls, the Colombian Caribbean’s largest shopping and entertainment center. The complex will feature a crystalline lagoon accessible to all through ticketed entry.
