Crystal Lagoons brings beach life to Madrid with a PAL™ project

Crystal Lagoons is moving forward with its next development in Spain. Less than 40 minutes from the center of Madrid, in a Mediterranean and urbanized area, the multinational water-innovation company will develop Alovera Beach, Europe’s largest man-made beach.

The project will be developed by Crystal Lagoons in association with Grupo Rayet. The site totals 26 acres, and will be anchored by a 6-acre crystalline lagoon surrounded by white sand beaches along with spaces for exhibitions, unveilings, food-halls, weddings, commercial áreas, as well as concerts on multiple set-ups with beaches, terraces, which can be covered by domes, as well as restaurants, retail and amphitheaters.

The complex will also include sports facilities, such as a volleyball pitch, area for children, a water park with slides, schools of sailing, kayaking, paddle surfing, among other venues.

Alovera Beach is an innovative concept that will transform the municipality of Alovera, positioning it on the European map thanks to its technology, innovation and sustainability, and as a unique destination in terms of outdoor water sports. Once operational, the public will access the water amenity upon payment of a ticket.

“Public Access Lagoons™, also known as PAL™ developments, will dramatically change the lifestyle in cities. They will allow people to enjoy of a beach-like lifestyle and to practice water sports on a daily basis. The latter will be as normal as going to the gym”, Francisco Matte, Crystal Lagoons’ Regional Director.

As in all Crystal Lagoons projects, and Alovera Beach will not be the exception, the complex will have the new and disruptive sustainable technology that requires 100 times less chemicals than conventional swimming pools and just 2% of the energy compared to conventional filtration systems.

Alovera is the firm’s third project in Spain, after the Alcazaba Lagoon (Costa del Sol) and Santa Rosalía (Murcia) residential developments. While in Europe, Crystal Lagoons has just signed a master agreement to develop six PAL™ complexes in Prague, Warsaw, Budapest and Bucharest, in addition to a project in Turkey and advanced negotiations in Italy (Milan, Verona, Rome and Naples), Portugal, Greece and Georgia.
