Yahoo! Highlights Crystal Lagoons Boom in Latin America
27 June, 2025 / News
- The multinational innovation company consolidates its presence in the region, which is positioned as one of the company’s top global markets.
Yahoo!, one of the world’s leading online platforms, highlighted the expansion of Crystal Lagoons in Latin America through landmark openings and the signing of strategic projects that confirm the global success of its technology.
The projects
The complexes to be inaugurated or to start filling the lagoon are:
- Kirah, an exclusive residential project in Punta Mita, Mexico, featuring a 0.95-hectare lagoon.
- Nya development in Costa Rica, which is about to begin filling a 3.47-hectare lagoon.
- Kristal Malls in Cartagena de Indias, where a 2.2-hectare lagoon is under construction, set to transform the largest shopping center in the Colombian Caribbean into the country’s first “Shopping Resort.”
In addition, Crystal Lagoons has signed 28 new developments across Latin America, including:
- A regional exclusivity agreement (Master Agreement) with Urbania to develop six projects with crystalline lagoons throughout Costa Rica.
- Two Master Agreements in Brazil with Ecipsa, one of the multinational’s key partners in the region. The first will develop 12 real estate, hybrid, and Public Access Lagoons® projects in São Paulo, and the second covers 10 complexes in different cities across the country.
Success of PAL® Developments
This large-scale commitment by a recurring client confirms the sustained success of the Public Access Lagoons® model, also known as the PAL® model. Unlike lagoons in private residential projects, this model allows anyone to enjoy beach life by just paying a ticket. In addition, the areas surrounding the lagoon feature spaces for fairs, product launches, food halls, weddings, hotels, shops, restaurants, concerts, domes, and amphitheaters.
“The fact that a client re-signs dozens of new projects speaks for itself. The PAL® model has proven to be a profitable, sustainable, and high-impact commercial solution,” says Francisco Matte, Regional Director of Crystal Lagoons.
Successful International Model
- The Latin American boom reflects a global trend for Crystal Lagoons, which has more than 1,000 projects in different stages of development and negotiation across the five continents.
- This technology has broken sales records, revitalized urban developments, and attracted international attention for its sustainable design and low construction and maintenance costs.
- Increase in hotel occupancy rates: The presence of this amenity boosts demand and occupancy rates in hotels or resorts, thanks to its strong appeal and added value.
- Generation of Additional Revenue: They allow for the organization of events, water sports, and recreational activities that create new revenue streams.
