PAL® Projects Eco-Friendly: Redefining the Urban Landscape with a Sustainable Approach
4 November, 2024 / NewsWith their Public Access Lagoons® projects, also known as PAL® developments, Crystal Lagoons transform the urban recreational landscape by offering a unique beach lifestyle experience in sustainable environments year-round. These monumental crystalline lagoons provide access to high-quality bodies of water, enhancing city living by bringing a tropical atmosphere just steps away from homes and eliminating the need for long commutes. They stand out for their positive impact on resource conservation, setting a new standard for public entertainment focusing on environmental responsibility.
These complexes help reduce the estimated carbon footprint by 40%—equivalent to 14 million tons of CO₂ per year—by reducing the need for car or airplane travel to coastal areas. By bringing the beach closer to the city, these developments cut the environmental impact by up to 50%, offering a recreational experience that benefits both people and the environment.
Thanks to the water efficiency of Crystal Lagoons® technology, certified by Bureau Veritas, the crystalline lagoons consume, on average, 33 times less water than a golf course and 40% less than a park or green area of equivalent size. The lagoons are filled only once, and by operating in a closed circuit, they minimize water consumption by compensating only for evaporation. Additionally, by capturing rainwater, the water resource is further optimized. Moreover, these lagoons can use brackish, seawater, or freshwater, requiring up to 100 times fewer chemicals than a traditional pool.
Energy efficiency is another hallmark of these developments, using only 2% of the energy required by conventional swimming pools. These sustainable features have earned Crystal Lagoons significant recognition, including the Green World Environment Award and the Green Apple Award.
