The Houston area’s new 12-acre Crystal Lagoons® pure turquoise lagoon has sold out nearly every day after opening to the public in July and is extending the summer fun with value packs and new watercraft activities. Following a wildly popular reception, as featured in Houston Chronicle, the water amenity has begun functioning as a Public Access Lagoon™, also known as PAL™, granting access via ticketed-entry.

Located in the Lago Mar development in Texas City, the island-like attraction opened to the public this summer with the launch of “Summer Lagoonfest,” which offers several food trucks and water-related activities, including inflatable obstacle courses, kayaks, sailboats, paddleboards andnew electric jet boards.

Attendees can expect to see several COVID-19 related health protocols in place, including frequent sanitization of high-traffic areas. Guests are required to wear face masks to enter the lagoon and in certain areas, such as in food and merchandise lines. Staff is required to wear masks and undergo daily temperature checks.

“With the size of the lagoon and the fact that we are operating below 30 percent capacity, people can easily spread out, social distance and enjoy the sandy beaches and crystal clear waters,” President of The Lagoon Development Company Uri Man said in the release.

The lagoon is one of several in Texas and the Houston area and is the signature attraction of a future 100-acre mixed-use entertainment district set for Lago Mar. Future phases will bring hotels, retail and dining to the development, while the lagoon will be upgraded with a pay-for-access beach club, a kid’s beach with water features and an event center, among other features.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
