Euro Weekly News has announced that final permission has been granted for the construction of Alovera Beach, Madrid. The €15 billion development will be anchored by a 35,000m3 fresh-water crystalline lagoon powered by Crystal Lagoons®, surrounded by 17,000m2 of imported white sand, making it Europe’s largest man-made beach.

The innovative water amenity will have a maximum capacity of 4,500 users at any one time and will include typical water-park amenities including, water slides, beach bars, man-made islands, and family restaurants. Estimates indicate 250,000 visitors are expected to enjoy the amenities on a yearly basis.

The lagoon will function as a Public Access Lagoon™, also known as PAL™, with entrances expected to cost 10€.

Guinness Book of Records

Crystal Lagoons is the only firm capable of creating such monumental crystalline water bodies at low construction and maintenance costs. The Miami-based firm is world famous for its pioneering amenity known as San Alfonso de Mar, in Chile, which at the time went into the Guinness Book of Records as the world’s largest man-made lagoon, only to break their own record with the building in 2015 of a 30-acre lagoon in Citystars Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt.

The project, which is to be developed together with Rayet Construcción, will create approximately 300 new jobs, and has a proposed completion date of 2023.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
