In fact, this first lagoon, located in a suburban area, 40 minutes from Tampa, was built as a real estate project and was transformed into a Public Access Lagoon (PAL), due to the fact that locals living in the have shown a huge interest in its beach.

Epperson has become a mixed-use project and, is the first lagoon to operate as a PAL in the U.S. Residents have free access, and since April of this year, limited access has been granted to external visitors.

“The water is everything developers said it would be — clean, clear and refreshing. The beach area was filled with folks relaxing in chairs, enjoying a beverage and working on their tans,” states the article.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
