The popular US website, Medium, has highlighted the water amenity that granted Crystal Lagoons® the award for world’s largest crystalline lagoon. Bestowed by the Guinness World Record association, the lagoon is not only monumental in size, but located in an arid desert in Egypt, and should undoubtedly be placed on readers “bucket list”, according to Medium.

“Historians have found evidence of people swimming as early as 6000 BC, and what better way to honor this history than by swimming in the world’s largest crystalline lagoon?,” starts the article.

Located in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, the monumental water amenity created and patented by Crystal Lagoons brings beach life to the desert. Coming in at 29-acres of crystalline water, which makes it officially the world’s largest man-made lagoon, it is so large you can not only swim in it, but also paddle and sail boats on it.

The pioneering technology created by biochemist, Fernando Fischmann, to maintain the pristine water fully complies with the most stringent international physicochemical and microbiological water quality standards. Futhermore, the innovation enables low water consumption, using up to 30 times less water than a golf course and 50% less water than is required by a park of the same size. By using the multinational’s evaporation control film technology, water consumption can be reduced even further.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
