Crystal Lagoons Appoints Regional Director to the Middle East

Crystal Lagoons’ explosive growth, that in about five years went from having a single project to currently have more than 300 projects worldwide, has forced the company to boost its managing team, this time to meet the needs of a very relevant market for the company such as the Middle East. This is why along the opening of a commercial office in the United Arab Emirates, specifically in Dubai, Crystal Lagoons appointed Carlos Salas as Regional Director to the Middle East.

The executive is a Civil Industrial Engineer from Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and MBA from the same Alma Matter. He also has an extensive career in the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf countries (GCC) formed by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Baréin, Oman and Qatar.

With more than 11 years of professional experience in the commercial area, during the latest six years, Salas was Chief of the Chilean Embassy in the UAE’s Economic Department and Chile’s commercial delegate to the GCC countries through ProChile. This experience let him generate strong networks with the governments of those countries and their private counterparts, and that makes him have a deep understanding of the way business are generated in the Middle East and how to approach these different cultures.

Previously, the executive worked as Project Manager and ProChile’s director adviser, as ProChile’s Trade Officer in Washington, U.S. and as adviser to the Agriculture Exportation Promotion from the same government institution.

In Crystal Lagoons he will be responsible for taking the company’s expansion in the Middle East beyond, in a region where the company already has many projects such as Citistars Sharm El Sheikh in Egypt; two developments in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; another one in Jordan and the “Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum City – District One” complex in Dubai itself, that will feature the world’s largest crystal clear lagoon (40 hectares).

Crystal Lagoons currently has a big folder of 300 urban, touristic, public and industrial projects around the world, in different development stages. Nowadays the company keeps partnership agreements with the main real estate companies of the world, being present in the five continents, in 60 countries, such as The United States, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Jordan, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay, Uruguay, Chile, among others.
