Biggest project of Crystal Lagoons® captures media the attention

26 May, 2021 / News

Crystal Lagoons® man-made lagoons have revolutionized the real estate and recreational industry, currently boasting over 1.000 projects –in different stages of negotiation and development- in 60 different countries worldwide.

This paradigm shift is confirmed by the international press’ interest. The company and its patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size crystalline lagoons at very low costs, was the protagonist of a program on the Billionaire Kings channel, which highlighted the largest artificial lagoon in the world, located in Egypt.

It is the 12.5-hectare lagoon at the Citystars Resort in Sharm El Sheikh. Thanks to this giant marvel, Crystal Lagoons won for the second time the Guinness World Record due to its monumental size.

The project is the result of a partnership deal between Crystal Lagoons and the Sharbatly family, one of the oldest and most prominent families in the Middle Eastern and Africa. It was made possible thanks to Crystal Lagoons’ technology –patent protected in 190 countries- that provided added real estate value to the development, by taking unusable water and using it in deserted, undevelopable land.

Citystars Sharm el Sheikh’s crystalline lagoon get its salt water supply from wells in the middle of the desert that are otherwise useless, allowing for a tropical crystalline lagoon in the desert.

Egypt is the most important market for Crystal Lagoons in Africa with more than 20 real estate projects.

One of the main characteristics of the African continent are its numerous Mediterranean landlocked extensions while some of its coasts are cold and dangerous. Crystal Lagoons technology gives these problems a solution, as these pure turquoise lagoons allow swimming and water sports to be practiced in a safe environment, while also developing projects in landlocked areas, not only far from the coast but also of low tourist and real estate value.

Other than Egypt. South AfricaNigeriaMorocco and Angola are just some of the continent’s countries where the multinational water innovation company has real estate projects and Public Access Lagoons™, also known as PAL™, in various stages of planning, design, construction or operation.

Alastair Sinclair, the firm’s Regional Director, explains the Crystal Lagoons success has spread throughout the African continent

“In Egypt, we have 20 operational projects, under construction or negotiation and what is currently the largest crystalline lagoon in the world that spans 30 acres and holds the Guinness World Record since 2015. In South Africa we have a total of 14 real estate developments and PAL, and in NigeriaMorocco and Angola, the firm has projects at different stages of development and negotiation,” says Alastair Sinclair.

Crystal Lagoons is an international innovation company, founded by scientist Fernando Fischmann, which has developed a patent-protected technology that allows the construction and maintenance of unlimited-size clear water lagoons at very low costs.
